A Texas Low will strike Durham Region again on Friday night when another winter storm is expected, bringing heavy snow and strong winds that will create hazardous travel conditions and possibly a chaotic commute.

There remains some uncertainty at this point to the placement of the heaviest snow, but the storm is expected to persist into Saturday morning with total accumulations of 15-20 cm.

Heavy snow in combination with strong easterly winds will create significantly reduced visibility and poor driving conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery, creating conditions that may be hazardous for pedestrians as well.

The storm watch is for southern Durham Region as well as areas north of the Oak Ridges Moraine in northern Durham.
