A man in his 20s faces a charge of adult kidnapping in connection with a home invasion in Mount Hope last year where Faqir Ali was abducted and his son was killed.

Hamilton Police (HPS) say that 27-year-old Samson Dekamo will have a first appearance in court to answer to the charge at the John Sopinka Courthouse downtown on Thursday. Dekamo was arrested “without incident” on Wednesday by detectives with the HPS homicide unit.

In the early hours of Sept. 16, 2021, there was a double shooting at a home in the area of Glancaster and Dickenson Road in Mount Hope. A third man — Ali — was forcibly taken in what HPS refers to as a “brutal kidnapping.” He was violently assaulted and eventually found near Beach Blvd. in Hamilton.

One of the shooting victims, Hasnain (Nano) Ali, died of his injuries. He is Faqir Ali’s son.

John Bartley and Gino McCall face first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of the younger Ali. They were arrested on Aug. 31.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone who has information that might assist HPS may contact Det. Lisa Chambers (905-546-4843).

Information pertaining to any investigation may be also provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Hamilton (1-800-222-8477; crimestoppershamilton.com).
