Another Heat Warning Has Been Issued for Mississauga

Environment Canada has issued another heat warning for Mississauga. The warning was issued earlier today (July 5), and Environment Canada says that a heat event will continue into Saturday (July 6).
“A hot and humid airmass is expected to remain in place into Saturday,” Environment Canada says. “Daytime maximum temperatures into the low thirties with humidex values near 40 can be expected this afternoon. Overnight minimum temperatures will remain near 20 degrees providing little relief.”
Tomorrow temperatures are expected to stay near the 30 degree mark, with humidex values in the upper 30s. However, due to a cold front, cooler temperatures and lower humidity is expected for the rest of the weekend.
Environment Canada is reminding people to drink lots of water, and to stay in a cool place.
“Extreme heat affects everyone,” Environment Canada says. “The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.”
Environment Canada is also reminding people to never leave people or pets inside parked vehicles.

In addition to the heat warning, Environment Canada also notes that Mississauga, along with Burlington, Oakville, and Brampton, could see heavy downpours this afternoon.
“Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop and move slowly eastward across portions of the regions this afternoon,” Environment Canada says. “Local rainfall amounts of 40 millimetres may occur. Wind gusts to 80 km/h are also possible. These storms are very localized and some places will see no rain at all.”
