A new Canadian leisure airline based at Pearson Airport in Mississauga has added a third large aircraft to its fleet.

Canada Jetlines, which operated its first-ever flight last Sept. 22 from Pearson to Calgary, reportedly took delivery of another Airbus A320 in recent weeks. The fledgling airline now has three of the large aircraft in the skies as it prepares to enter its second year of operations.

The carrier’s second Airbus took off from the tarmac last Nov. 30 and this past April the airline signed a letter of intent to attain a third such aircraft, which was delivered end of July.

Canadian Jetlines’ first Airbus was delivered earlier in 2022 (see video below).

The new Airbus A320, which seats as many as 174 passengers, is being leased from aircraft lessor Global Aviation, according to U.S.-based Business Wire.

Canada Jetlines CEO Eddy Doyle said earlier that the third Airbus “will help support our existing customers and continue the company’s growth plans.”

In late March, the company announced it was in discussions with Qatar Airways Group “to explore a potential collaboration between the two airlines.”

Such a partnership would jet people nonstop from Pearson to Qatar, from where travellers can access connecting flights to the Middle East, Africa and across Asia.

The new Canadian leisure carrier also began service to Vancouver last December and Las Vegas in February as it continues to grow.

It took almost 10 years, but Canada Jetlines finally got its inaugural flight off the ground at Pearson last Sept. 22. The carrier initially formed in 2013, but it had trouble getting planes into the air until 2022.
