Whitby Animal Services is asking for the public’s help after nine puppies were dumped near Mary Street and Garden Street on January 13 – the fourth litter dumped in the same area over the past year.
All the puppies, noted the Whitby Animal Services Centre, appear to be related.
The pups have been seen by the Animal Services veterinarian and have all received a warm bath, along with a great deal of love from the Whitby team over the last 24 hours. “Their bellies are full, with their eyes wide open, looking for a foster family to love!”
The Whitby Animal Services post on Facebook drew nearly 100 responses from residents and the town is hoping for any information about the puppies or of their parents – spaying and neutering your pets, the post noted, is key in preventing unwanted animals dumped on the streets.

If anyone is interested in fostering any of puppies until they’re old enough to be adopted you can send a direct message to the Whitby Animal Services Centre.
The centre is also looking for donations of pee pads, chew toys, blankets or bandage wraps to help with the recovery and care of the puppies.
“Nine puppies = 1,000 pee pads, 3,058 broken (but well-loved) chew toys, and a lot of vet wrap changes.”
The shelter is open for donations Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alternatively, you can send a gift to the puppies via an Amazon wish list: https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/1V50W31SJKA6G…
“Thank you to our wonderful staff for ensuring these babies are safe and well cared for. We have an amazing team, which includes you – the warriors in the background and our fosters that we can’t live without. Together, we are making a difference!”
