The City of Burlington released the results of an autumn Community Survey that showed the overwhelming majority of residents like living in the city.

Conducted via random telephone calls, 89 per cent of respondents rated Burlington as an excellent or very good place to live in 2021.

Somewhat surprisingly perhaps, 71 per cent of people said they’d be in favour of increasing taxes to maintain or even enhance local services. Overall, services in the city recieved a 95 per cent approval rating.

When asked what issues should be top priority for council going forward, one of the most popular answers was a concern over the number of high-rise building under construction in the downtown core. Other topics of concern included traffic congestion, road maintenance, affordable housing and poverty/homelessness.

The city services that people are least satisified with include by-law enforcement and parking management, snow removal and transit service.
