An assassin with Alzheimer’s shooting TV series in Ontario town

The danger level may be make-believe, but Scugog residents will still have to be careful not to get in the way of a shot when a hit man with dementia takes over downtown Port Perry over the next few days for the filming of season 1 of a television series ‘Memories of a Killer.’

Greenlit in May, the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment-produced series stars Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey as Angelo, who lives a double life as an assassin and a family man – which all worked out until he was hit with early onset Alzheimer’s. Now his worlds are colliding, putting his family in danger.

The new thriller is inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer.

Silverstrand Production Services Inc. will be filming in Port Perry on Monday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with interior and exterior scenes on Queen Street.

Prep work will be on Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The production wraps up Tuesday, also from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Production vehicles and various pieces of film equipment will be located on the back section of Municipal lot #5, the east side of Water Street between Queen Street and North Street and in some of the parking laybys on Queen Street between Perry Street and Water Street.

Crews will begin reserving the above areas with cones on Sunday at 7 a.m. with filming production vehicles arriving the same evening, between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. and departing Monday by 10 p.m. The spaces will be held for the wrap-out crew through Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Film production in downtown Port Perry

Parking lanes on Queen Street between Water Street and Perry Street will be blocked off from 11 p.m. on Sunday until approximately 8 a.m. on Monday to allow for an unobstructed early morning scene.

An additional scene takes place on the roadway and for safety reasons a temporary full closure is required on Monday. The closure will begin after 5 p.m. to minimize disruption to residents and businesses.

Any intermittent traffic stoppages/control will be conducted under the safe supervision of Durham Police.
