Amazon now lets you share your Prime subscription in Canada

Amazon has launched a new program in Canada that allows Prime members to share their subscription.

“Amazon Family” lets a member share their Prime benefits with one other adult in their household, the company said Monday.

It doesn’t cost anything extra and it allows each person to keep their own account, order history, recommendations, and password.

Other benefits include free delivery, Prime Video streaming, deals, events like Prime Day, DashPass, and more.

“Amazon Family is officially available in Canada, giving Prime members a simple way to share many of their Prime benefits with one other adult in their household — without sharing a single account,” the company said.

The main Prime member, called the “family organizer,” can invite one other adult in their household. The organizer selects one payment method to share the benefits, the other person accepts, and it’s all finished.

The organizer will receive a notification showing the charge total for any purchases made using the shared payment method. But the invited person can use their own payment method as well.

“Each person keeps their own Amazon account, their own order history, and their own personalized recommendations. Recommendations stay relevant. Accounts stay secure,” Amazon said.

Prime costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year. There is a 30-day free trial available for eligible customers.

Meanwhile, earlier this month Amazon launched an “add to delivery” option, which allows Prime members to add an item or items to an existing order.

“With a single tap, members can instantly add eligible items from across Amazon—everything from pantry staples, to pet toys, electronics, clothing, books, and more—to upcoming deliveries,” Amazon said.

“It’s an easy, fast, and free way to avoid creating new orders for last-minute additions.”
