Residents should keep an eye out for this text message scam, particularly if they shop on Amazon.

The scam in question alleges to be from Amazon, offering to refund you due to a “billing error” on your last order.

It looks like this:

“Amazon will never send you an unsolicited message that asks you to provide sensitive personal information like your social security number, tax ID, bank account number, credit card information, ID questions like your mother’s maiden name or your password,” Amazon says.

“If you receive a suspicious or fraudulent correspondence, don’t share any personal information and report it immediately.”

More information is available on Amazon’s help and customer service page.
