Alton Village Public School in Burlington

Data from Halton Region’s health department shows a COVID-19 outbreak continues at a Burlington school.

Alton Village Public School, located at 3290 Steeplechase Dr., was put on the Open Outbreak list by the Region of Halton Health Department on Sept. 28 with four cases. The school remains open and no classrooms have been closed.

In order to rise to the level of an ‘outbreak’, at least two students, staff or visitors to the school must have a confirmed case and at least one of them could reasonably have been infected in the school, including during transportation or extra-curricular activities.

On the Halton District School Board’s COVID-19 reporting page yesterday, however, Alton Village was showing no active cases of COVID-19.

Schools are removed from the board’s list once the COVID-19 case is resolved, but the health department has final say when an outbreak is declared over.
