Alternative routes urged in Brampton due to high-rise fire

Motorists in Brampton were encouraged to take alternative routes on Wednesday night, in order to avoid an area where firefighters are battling a blaze in a high-rise residential building.
The social media post from the Brampton fire department says the blaze is in the Bramalea Rd. and Knightsbridge Rd. area. Knightsbridge Rd. was closed between Kings Cross Rd. & Central Pkwy., the Peel police said.
“Please avoid the area due to heavy traffic,” the fire department said in a social media post.
Brampton Transit buses were also sent to the area in order to give evacuated residents an altnerative to standing outdoors.
