Woman sexually assaulted by rideshare drive leads to charge for Brampton man: police

Toronto police have charged a Brampton man after a female victim said she was sexually assaulted by her rideshare driver.

The assault happened on Sunday shortly after 1:15 p.m. in the Danforth Avenue and Broadview Avenue area, the Toronto Police Service says.

Investigators say the female victim used a rideshare app to request a ride and that a male suspect picked the woman up and drove her to the destination. But that’s when police say the driver sexually assaulted the woman before exiting the vehicle.

Toronto police say Nathaniel Ezema, 48, of Brampton, has been charged with sexual assault. The accused is scheduled to make a court appearance on Aug. 6.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Toronto police by calling 416-808-2222. Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

When you contact Crime Stoppers you stay anonymous, never have to testify, and could receive a $2,000 reward.
