Alleged $141,000 ‘internal’ theft leads to fraud charge against Hamilton man

A man from Hamilton, whom Waterloo Regional Police did not publicly name, has been arrested in connection to a fraud investigation that began 12 months ago.

The Waterloo police says it received a report from a business about potential internal fraud in February 2022. Police then commenced an investigation. Last Frriday, investigators arrested a 41-year-old man from Hamilton after the investigation into the alleged defrauding of a local Cambridge company of approximately $141,000.

The man faces one count of fraud over $5,000, and one count of laundering proceeds of crime.
