UPDATE: Police said at 6:50 p.m. that all lanes on Highway 403 at Hurontario Street have reopened.

All eastbound lanes on Highway 403 between Mavis Road and Hurontario Street in Mississauga are closed to traffic after a dump truck struck an overpass on Friday morning, police say.

The one-vehicle crash initially shut down one lane of eastbound traffic, but Ontario Provincial Police said at around the noon hour they were closing all eastbound lanes for the investigation and cleanup.

“Motorists are being diverted off the highway at Mavis Road,” police said in an online update, adding a short time later a bridge inspector was en route to the scene “to assess the integrity of the bridge.”

Traffic was also slowing in westbound lanes as motorists checked out the site of the dump truck stuck under the overpass at Hurontario Street.

The mishap occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. when the truck, which was travelling with its box raised in the eastbound lanes of the busy highway at Hurontario Street, collided with the overpass, according to OPP.

Police said no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

Police said motorists in the area should use caution when approaching the accident scene.

Police noted additional lane closures are possible as the investigation and cleanup continues.
