There will be no Beer Stores or LCBOs open in Niagara Region on Labour Day, Sept. 4.

However, Niagara is home to over 60 wineries, the majority of which have indicated they will be open for business. Since there are far too many to list, call your favourite local to see if they have adjusted their hours on the mandatory holiday.

At least 14 craft breweries will also be open in the region, spread all over Niagara Region.

Niagara-on-the-Lake leads the pack with four open breweries, three of them just minutes apart on Niagara Stone Rd. Silversmith Brewing (1523 Niagara Stone Rd), Niagara Oast House Brewing (2017 Niagara Stone Rd) and Gretzky Estate Beer/Wine (1219 Niagara Stone Rd) are all open, as is The Exchange Brewery (7 Queen St).

Niagara Falls has four breweries open – Counterpart Brewing (3659 Stanley Ave), Niagara Brewing (4915-A Clifton Hill), Blackburn Brew House (8001 Blackburn Pkwy) and Taps Brewhouse (4680 Queen St.)

St. Catharines has three breweries open – Lock Street Brewing (15 Lock St), Cold Break Brewing (193 St Paul St W) and The Merchant Ale House (98 St Paul St) though it doesn’t open until 4 p.m.

Both Beamsville craft breweries – Bench Brewing (3991 King St) and Newark Brewing (4766 Christie Dr) are open as is Welland’s only brewery, Bridgewater Brewing (60 Niagara St).
