Police say alcohol “may have been a factor” in a single vehicle accident in Uxbridge Sunday evening that left a 66 year-old man in critical condition.

Durham Police responded to a report of a vehicle rollover at 5:20 p.m. Sunday on Regional Road 1, north of Foster Drive near Leaskdale in the northern portion of the township. A black Dodge Journey had been travelling northbound on the road when the driver lost control and rolled into a field.

The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was airlifted to a Toronto trauma hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to investigate, with the roads in the area closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Anyone with information about this incident or who witnessed this collision is asked to call D/Cst.  Kollaard at 905-579-1520 ext. 5267.
