Other commuters found the truck in the ditch May 27 while travelling eastbound on Hwy 401 near Lakeridge Rd. The black pick-up truck drove into a steep ditch on the east side of Lakeridge.
Witness saw the truck in the ditch shortly after, though as of an OPP release shortly before 9 p.m. investigators had yet to find anyone who saw the crash itself.
The people who found the truck called in the OPP and first responders pronounced the man, a 32-year-old from Ajax, dead on scene.
“At this time we are looking into alcohol and a lack of seatbelt use as contributing factors in this collision,” said OPP media officer Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
Police shut down both lanes of Lakeridge Rd. and the Hwy 407 on-ramp to Lakeridge for some time to investigate. Officers are calling on any witness to aid their investigation.
