Ajax woman seriously injured after being hit by car

A 34-year-old woman is in hospital after she was struck by a car in Ajax last night.
She was hit shortly before 6:30 when a 2017 Ford Explorer turned left from Monarch Avenue onto Charlton Crescent. The driver, a 53-year-old woman, stopped the car and helped the victim.
The pedestrian was taken to local hospital, but later sent to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries.
The intersection was closed for hours as police investigated the scene. However, the investigation is ongoing. Any witnesses can call Det. Cst. Lee 905-579-1520 (toll free 1-888-579-1520) ext. 5231.
