Ajax teen caught with loaded gun at traffic stop

An 18 year-old from Ajax has been charged with multiple firearms and drug offences after being found with a loaded handgun at a traffic stop near Westney Road and Kingston Rd. W. Tuesday evening.
Members of the Durham Police Gun and Gang Unit stopped a vehicle at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle and occupants were searched and a loaded handgun with overcapacity magazines and ammunition was seized.
Jerell Armstrong is facing nine charges, including possession of a loaded prohibited firearm; two counts of possession of a prohibited device; possession of a firearm with the serial numbers tamper with; and possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
