The Town of Ajax received its fourth-quarter earnings cheque for hosting Casino Ajax this week, a payment of more than $803,000.

The Q4 payment from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation brings the total payment for the fiscal year (April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023) to $5,042.543.

Since the gaming site – which also hosts a quarter horse racing track and off-track betting – opened in 2006, Ajax has received $102,501,704.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“OLG’s Municipal Contribution Agreement payments are building strong communities where people and families can enjoy a high quality of life,” said Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy, who is also MPP for the adjacent Pickering-Uxbridge Riding. “These revenues help support local program and critical infrastructure, making a real difference for gaming host municipalities.”

Since 1994, host communities have received nearly $2 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
