Ajax man faces battery of charges after gun, fentanyl, meth seized in Sault Ste. Marie drug investigation

A man from Ajax faces a battery of charges after police seized a gun, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine as part of a drug investigation in Sault Ste. Marie.
The OPP Community Street Crime Unit and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Crime Suppression and Drug Enforcement Units arrested the man alongside a local woman on April 8.
In the course of their investigation officers say they discovered 25 grams of yellow fentanyl, 6 grams of meth, $3,600 Canadian and a Glock 17 9mm handgun loaded with 17 rounds.
The OPP estimates the fentanyl to be worth more than $9,000 and valued the meth at $1,200. Officers also seized packaging materials, a digital scale, and cell phones.
Jayden Aprile, 22 of Ajax was arrested on numerous charges including;
- Carry firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of Weapon
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Trafficking in Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), and
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
Patricia Vierimaa, 24 of Sault Ste. Marie, is charged with;
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
- Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), and
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Both appeared in a Sault Ste. Marie courtroom on April 9.
