An Ajax man was arrested on Saturday after fleeing police on foot after a traffic stop.

Tristan Clough, 28, was stopped for riding a motorcycle without licence plates around Consumers Road and Brock Street in Whitby around 5 a.m.

According to Durham Region Police, Clough became uncooperative during the stop, pushed an officer and ran away from the scene.

During the chase, Clough fell and, allegedly, charged an officer when he got up. The officer subdued Clough with a taser and arrested him, police say.

Clough has been charged with obstructing police, assault with intent to resist, failure to comply with probation, driving without a license, driving without insurance and driving without plates.

He has been released with conditions.
