An Ajax man is facing a slew of charges after he was caught in north Oshawa going more than double the speed limit and with nearly three times the legal alcohol limit in his bloodstream.

Durham Police clocked the driver at 105 km/hr in a 40 km/hr zone on Northern Dancer Drive near Simcoe St. N in the city’s University District on Sunday. Police say the suspect then drove “head on” at the police cruiser before attempting to flee when officers tried to stop the vehicle.

He stopped a short time later and was arrested.

The 28 year-old man was charged with stunt driving, fail to stop for police and impaired driving. His blood/alcohol reading on the breathalyzer was .230 and .220 ml. The legal limit is .08 per 100 millilitres of blood.
