Ten new cases in Ajax fueled a surge of COVID-19 cases in Durham Monday, with the new case count rising to 19.

The good news is local hospitals are virus-free and there are no outbreaks reported in long-term care homes. Whitby, Scugog and Brock reported zero new cases yesterday, though the active case count for the region has risen to 93.

There are still two students at Durham schools and day-cares home self-isolating and there is one workplace outbreak in a food and beverage company.

The vaccination rate for those 12-and-over who are fully vaccinated rose slightly to 83.5 per cent.
