Ajax is inviting residents to explore Pickering Village by bike after the heritage community was designated a Bike Friendly Business Area.

The designation comes from Ontario by Bike, an information network for cyclists. Ajax has heavily invested in bicycle accessibility over the last few years and have won awards for their trails and have been cited as an inspiration for Durham’s Regional Cycling Plan.

Town staff is hosting pop-up events at three locations around the village. Cyclists can visit Pickering Village Urban Square, Quaker Meeting House, or St. Francis Centre during the event for games, giveaways and entertainment.

Participants can also download an ‘Explore PV passport for a self-guided tour of the village. Those who visit five stops can enter to win a cycling-related prize pack.

Cyclists can get to Pickering Village from the Duffins Trail System and bike lanes along Church Street.

The event will run on October 2 and 3.
