An air quality warning is in effect for parts of Ontario as wildfires continue in Canada.
Environment Canada issued the warning for northwestern areas of the province with poor conditions either already occurring or expected.
“Smoke from wildfires in Manitoba and Ontario is expected to affect the area today and possibly into Wednesday,” the warning read.
“During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status. Limit time outdoors. Reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events.”
While inside, individuals were advised to keep their windows and doors closed as much as possible and use a good-quality air filter in the home’s ventilation system and / or a portable air cleaner that filters fine particles.

And if there is a need to be outside, wearing a respirator-type mask could reduce exposure to fine particles in the smoke, although there can still be risks to health, Environment Canada said.
An air quality warning was later issued for part of extreme northern Ontario as well.
A special air quality statement is in place for several areas also, with poor conditions there.
In Manitoba, dozens of fires have sent more than 17,000 people from their homes, including 5,000 residents of Flin Flon.
Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew has said some 1,000 hotel rooms were being made available for evacuees in Winnipeg.
