For the second time in a week, internal technical issues have led to scores of delayed Air Canada flights at Pearson Airport in Mississauga and other airports across the country.
In a statement issued this morning (June 1), Air Canada officials acknowledged the widespread technical issue across its network.
“Air Canada is experiencing an IT issue causing flight delays,” the statement on Twitter reads. “Customers are advised to check the status of their flight at aircanada.com before going to the airport. We thank you for your understanding.”
Canada’s flagship carrier operates more flights into and out of Pearson Airport than any other Canadian airport.
The issue is reportedly a temporary one, airline officials said, and for the time being it’s affecting the carrier’s ability to communicate with aircraft.
According to FlightAware.com, some 130 flights (25 per cent of those scheduled on Thursday) have already been delayed today.
On May 25, technical problems led to widespread Air Canada flight delays and cancellations as well.
