Canadians will have a few more choices this winter with 13 new routes from Air Canada.
This winter there will be over 55 daily flights and more than 80,000 seats weekly from Canadian airports flying to Latin America, Air Canada announced this week. This is a 16 per cent more seat capacity over last winter.
The expansion includes more flights to popular destinations and routes to new locations.
“Air Canada is delivering on its New Frontiers strategy with the expansion of its Latin America presence this winter,” said Mark Galardo, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, and president, cargo at Air Canada. “We are excited to be adding Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City and Guadalajara to our global network, and increasing service to Santiago with new flights from Montreal.”
New routes out of Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga include Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Cartagena, Colombia, Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and Guadalajara, Mexico.

Brazil’s tourism board encourages Canadians to consider a visit.
“Rio de Janeiro is one of those unique places in the world where you can go hiking, swim in the ocean, experience the rich Afro-Brazilian culture, admire breathtaking landscapes, and enjoy an authentic and diverse gastronomy,” said Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur – Brazilian Tourism Board. “The relaunch of this route meets a growing demand from Canadian travellers for genuine and sustainable experiences.”
Air Canada is also adding new routes to Santiago, Cartagena and Guatemala City from Montreal; a route to Fort-de-France from Quebec City; new Nassau and Montego Bay routes from both Halifax and Ottawa; and a route to Huatulco from Vancouver.
