After a police car was intentionally run off the road, a Brampton man is charged

Peel Regional Police have charged a Brampton man after a police cruiser was intentionally run off the road more than a year ago.
On Friday, July 30, 2021 at 1:30 a.m., a man was seen operating a stolen vehicle in the area of Hurontario Street and County Court Boulevard in Brampton.
The driver then made intentional contact with a police cruiser, causing it to leave the roadway. The driver fled the scene.
An arrest warrant was subsequently issued.
On Nov. 29, 2022, Gauravdeep Singh, 22, of Brampton, was charged with the following:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Dangerous Operation (X2)
- Flight from a Police Officer
- Possession of Stolen Property (X7)
- Fail to Remain
He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Peel police Deputy Chief Marc Andrews applauded investigators for sticking with the lengthy investigation.
“It is a miracle that there were no serious injuries in this incident as (the driver) attempted to harm our officers, who accept the inherent risks associated with their jobs to keep our community safe.”
