After hit-and-run, Niagara Police bust Port Colborne man for drunk-driving on a backhoe

After a hit-and-run, a Port Colborne man was arrested for leaving the scene and drunk driving on a backhoe.

Yesterday morning (November 1) at 8 am, Niagara Police were called to the intersection of Niagara Street and Thorold Road in Welland after reports of a collision.

Before long, they found a man driving a backhoe and topped him. According to the police, the driver “displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested.

Jeremy West, 44, of Port Colborne is charged with impaired driving, possession of crystal meth, obstructing an officer, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

West will appear in court on December 3 at the Welland courthouse.
