Council and committee meetings at Thorold City Halls have been shut out to the public since March 2020.

Shut down to the public since March 2020, Thorold is finally re-opening its council chambers to residents starting Feb. 7.

The city noted that while their council meetings will still be livestreamed on their YouTube channel, the public and delegations are now allowed back in-person.

“We are happy to welcome residents and community partners back to Council Chambers to attend Council meetings in-person,” says City CAO Manoj Dilwaria.

“The comfort of our attendees is very important to us, so we will continue to livestream the meetings, giving people the option to attend in-person or virtually, based on their own preference.”

Requests to appear as delegates for matters listed on the Council agenda are to be submitted to the City Clerk before 4:30 p.m. on the Monday immediately preceding the scheduled Council meeting.

Thorold staff noted that “Attendees are encouraged to wear a face mask, however they aren’t required. There will be disposable face masks available at the entrance of the Council Chambers to anyone who may require one.”
