Families looking for gently-used children’s clothes, toys, shoes, accessories, and more might be happy to hear that Once Upon a Child is opening a new location in Mississauga next week.

Once Upon a Child, a well-known resale brand that accepts and sells products for children that are still in good condition, will open its doors in Mississauga’s Streetsville neighbourhood on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The new store will be located at 128 Queen Street S.

The store, run by local owners Tanimar Narkmun and Chengbo Qian, will host a series of events and promotions on opening day and over the weekend. On Dec. 8, the first 25 people in line will get a $10 gift card, a swag bag and a chance to win a life-size Pac-man joystick.

On Dec. 9, shoppers can bring their children in for face painting and temporary tattoos. Attendees can also enter to win a Yamaha Apex snow bike. On Dec. 10, Santa will make an appearance from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

“Our store fills a distinct niche in the retail market,” Narkmun said in a news release.

“I understand how expensive it is to raise children today and want to offer an affordable option for local families. By purchasing merchandise directly from consumers, we’re able to offer them lower prices and a great opportunity to receive cash on the spot for items they may have otherwise simply given away.”

Unlike a typical consignment store, Once Upon A Child does not require appointments and pays on the spot for items it purchases from consumers. The company says it ensures that all products purchased and sold meet mandatory and voluntary safety standards.
