Accident with hydrant in north Oshawa snarls traffic for hours

A busy intersection in north Oshawa was shut down for several hours Friday after a car crashed into a fire hydrant, sending plumes of water high in the air for more than an hour until crews were able to shut it down.
The accident happened just after ten this morning and the intersection of Wilson and Taunton roads was finally opened early this afternoon, with traffic backed up for miles in each direction.
Oshawa Power crews attended the scene and reported “no significant damage” to their infrastructure.
