Absenteeism rate over 10 per cent at several Burlington schools

More than a 10 Burlington schools have an absentee rate above 10 per cent due to COVID-19.

Although schools aren’t reporting individual case counts, as they were doing until early January, the province is still compiling absentee rates.

The reported rates includes absences for any reasons for both students and teachers.

The outlier on the list is Gary Allan High School, an alternative learning facility for secondary students, which is reporting an absent rate of 55 per cent.

Here is a list of all Burlington schools reporting more than 10 per cent absenteeism:

  • Gary Allan HS – 55%
  • Ascension – 15.3%
  • Florence Meares – 14.4%
  • St. Paul – 14.1%
  • Glenview – 13.1%
  • Central – 12.8%
  • St. Raphael – 11.1%
  • St. Patrick – 10.7%
  • Burlington Central – 10.7%
  • Tecumseh – 10.4%
  • Rolling Meadows – 10.3%
