A Courtice man hopes to be Japan-bound after a $100,000 lottery win last month.
Forrest S., who has been playing the lottery on and off since he turned 18, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the June 3 LOTTO 6/49 draw for his first major win.
“I found out I was a winner when I scanned my ticket using the ticket checker at the store,” he said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings. “I thought maybe the scanner was broken when I first saw the prize amount. I asked the store clerk to validate my ticket, and the lottery terminal froze. It turns out it was real. I had won $100,000! I was so excited and happy!”
Courtice’s newest lotter winner immediately started messaging his wife to tell her the good news.
“At first, she thought I was messing with her. Once she realized I was serious, she was thrilled for me. We later shared the news with our family, who were just as excited.”
With his windfall, Forrest plans to take a trip to Japan, invest and save.
“It’s a great feeling to have won $100,000 with OLG. This prize will help with our future and make life more comfortable.”
Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There are two draws every day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Rosswell Convenience on Rosswell Drive in Courtice.
