A takedown by Peel police tactical unit leads to gun, weapon charges against two men

Peel Police have laid several gun and drug charges against two men after a takedown of a vehicle by tactical officers along a city street.
Police say the Tactical Enforcement Policing Program (STEP) stopped a vehicle on December 11 in the area of Charolais Blvd. and McMurchy Ave. S. in Brampton.
As a result of the investigation, officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia, two .22 calibre firearms, one of which was loaded, along with a 9mm firearm, numerous rounds of ammunition and two silencers.
Jason Carra-Garcia, a 30-year-old man from Brampton, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm – 3 counts
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm – 3 counts
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device – 2 counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamines
Corey Mastromatteo, a 28-year-old man from Brampton, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm – 3 counts
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm – 3 counts
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device – 2 counts
- Obstruct Police
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamines
Both men were held for bail hearings.
