A new legal index built to support whistleblowers has been released in Ontario

In a massive provincewide incentive, a fullscale directory of legal representatives has been released to support Ontarians who are looking to whistleblow on corrupt institutions.

According to the Whistleblowing Canada Research Society, this new legal index will vastly improve access to speedy justice for whistleblowers, as expert guidance will be promptly available to those engaging in legal pursuits.

Whistleblowing, by definition, is the act of a person —  in most cases an an employee — revealing information about an activity within a private or public organization that is usually deemed illegal, immoral or fraudulent.

“We are so pleased that whistleblowers in Ontario will now find it easier to obtain the legal support they need. This directory is a game-changer for those who have faced the daunting challenge of seeking justice without legal representation,” said Pamela Forward, President of Whistleblowing Canada in an official statement.

Whistleblowing Canada has been an active force nationwide since 2019, specializing in supporting individuals who come forward to expose wrongdoing within major institutions. While the group has often looked into assistance for potential whistleblowers, the process, until now, has been not as straightforward.

“Thanks to the commitment of these dedicated lawyers, whistleblowers will no longer be alone in their fight to do the right thing without being punished for doing so,” said Forward in an additional statement.
