A Mother’s Day ‘frolic’ for rescued cows at Uxbridge sanctuary

On Mother’s Day, it’s frolicking time for Daisy and the other rescued cows at Farmhouse Garden Animal Home.
After a long winter in the barn, the cows at the Uxbridge sanctuary will finally be let out into the pasture, and the public is invited to enjoy the moment.
The cows have been known to gallop and dance out into the field after their long winter cooped up in the barns, and Farmhouse Garden’s Executive Director said it is a “must-see moment” for those in attendance.
“Watching the animals running to their pasture while the crowd cheers them on is an unforgettable experience,” said Edith Barabash, “and it’s the perfect Mother’s Day outing to make family memories.”
The event, which has been a community staple for the past six years, will be held on May 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and tickets are $15 per person, with children under the age of 10 free. Attendees can also purchase pre-made veggie boxes to feed the animals, vegan grub from Sausage Party Toronto, sanctuary merchandise, and more. All proceeds from the fundraiser will cover animal care costs, including food, bedding, and veterinary services.
Farmhouse Garden Animal Home started rescuing animals in 2016 when farmer Mike Lanigan decided that he could no longer send the animals on his farm to slaughter. It has since been a place of refuge and compassion for animals, allowing them to live safe, happy lives.

Currently, the sanctuary is home to a herd of cows, a flock of chickens and ducks, a horse and a donkey.
