A favourite son of Hamilton gets a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

One of Hamilton’s very own will solidify his celebrity status this week.

Eugene Levy, star of countless television series and movies, will receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in ceremonies planned for Friday (March 8).

Born in downtown Hamilton, the now 77-year-old Levy spent his early years in Steeltown attending Westdale Secondary School and later McMaster University where he formed friendships with future filmmaker Ivan Reitman and long-time colleagues Martin Short and Dave Thomas.

It is with Thomas and Short that Levy eventually joined John Candy, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Catherine O’Hara, and Joe Flaherty to form Second City, the comedy cabaret and eventual television show.

While he has appeared in movies such as National Lampoon’s Vacation, Splash, and American Pie, Levy is most recently known for his role in the television sitcom Schitt’s Creek.

Schitt’s Creek ran for six years and earned Levy two Emmys for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Comedy Series.

His latest television project is The Reluctant Traveler on Apple TV+ which begins its second season on March 8.
