Mississauga finally hosts its first-ever craft beer festival

The first dozen craft breweries to be part of the first-ever Creative Craft Beer Festival in Mississauga have been named.

Organizers of the festival, to take place June 17-18 at the Small Arms Inspection Building on Lakeshore Rd. E., released the list late last week.

Among the dozen confirmed participants to date are two Mississauga craft breweries–Old Credit Brewing Co. and Stonehooker Brewing Co.

The others, all based in Ontario, to sign on so far are: Barnstormer Brewing and Distilling Co. (Barrie); Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. (Vankleek); Black Lab, Harmon’s Craft, Shacklands (all Toronto); Brock St. Brewing (Whitby); Fenelon Falls Brewing (Fenelon Falls); Nickel Brook Brewing (Burlington); South River Brewing (South River); and Thornbury Craft (Thornbury).

Organizers expect several more to confirm in the coming weeks as the festival draws closer.

They say they’re “thrilled to announce the names of the first 12 local Ontario craft beer and cider breweries who will be perfectly pouring pints for thirsty guests over three sessions (of the festival)…”

After several cancellations the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mississauga’s first-ever Creative Craft Beer Festival is finally coming to town.

Tickets are still on sale for the two-day event, which is sponsored by Mississauga arts organization CreativeHub 1352.

Organizers say Mississauga’s “long-awaited” beer festival will feature more than 15 Ontario craft breweries and cideries, delicious food offerings and entertainment featuring local talent.

“Set against the unique backdrop of the Small Arms Inspection Building, a restored heritage treasure, this promises to be a memorable, thirst-quenching experience for craft beer lovers far and wide,” organizers say.

“This ambient open-concept space will be set up with mixed indoor and outdoor seating and large-format games to enhance your experience.”

Admission, which is $30, includes a souvenir sampling glass as well as two sample tokens. Additional tokens for food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event.

The festival is divided into three sessions. It opens Friday, June 17 from 6 to 11 p.m., and continues Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and in the evening from 6 to 11 p.m.

Becky Seath, one of the organizers, said as the first event of its kind in Mississauga, this year’s festival promises to be special.

“Originally scheduled for 2020, the resilient team at CreativeHub 1352 has continued planning over the last 18 months and were determined to host this event as soon as it was safe to do so,” she said. “You can expect a wide variety of your favourite breweries, food options, live music and activities throughout the day. We’ve selected some of the finest brewers in southern Ontario, and each beer has a unique story.”
