Half the week will be cloudy, and the other half will be sunny in southern Ontario.

As of today (May 25), the forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day with a 40 per cent chance of rain across the region. Rain is expected close to midnight, potentially leading to overnight thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will reach 21 C before dropping to 16 C in the evening, making it the warmest night of the week.

Monday will be another cloudy day with a 40 per cent chance of light morning rain. If you plan on heading out for work or errands, it might be a good idea to bring an umbrella and raincoat. Rain may also return in the afternoon, which may lead to a thunderstorm. Temperatures will climb to 23 C making it the hottest day out of the whole week!

The UV index is anticipated to reach a moderate level of four. Environment Canada recommends protecting your skin when the UV Index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., even on cloudy days.

Additionally, Health Canada says that if outdoors, individuals should seek shade, wear protective clothing and hats, apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, avoid tanning, and use UV-protective sunglasses.

Later in the evening, temperatures are expected to drop to 13 C, bringing the potential for a thunderstorm. Wind speeds may also increase to 40 km/h.

Tuesday and Wednesday will have overcast skies throughout the day. Tuesday may bring scattered showers, while Wednesday will be mainly cloudy. Temperatures will range from 19 C to 16 C, with lows between 9 C and 5 C.

The soggy and gloomy weather will give way as Environment Canada calls for sunshine and crystal-clear skies for the rest of the week.

Temperatures are set to rise by an average of two degrees each day, reaching 18 C on Thursday, 22 C on Friday, and peaking at 24 C on Saturday. Overnight temperatures are expected to be significantly cooler, ranging between 9 C and 5 C.

It appears that sunshine will continue into the following week, with occasional cloudy periods.
