Frank Giannone, a well-known builder who is currently helping shape Mississauga’s brand-new Brightwater community, will be honoured at Community Living Mississauga’s 36th Annual Tribute Dinner.

“From Celebration Square to heritage sites across Mississauga. If you drive through our city, you have likely seen the influence of long-time resident and community builder Frank Giannone,” Community Living Mississauga said in a news release.

The foundation recently announced that it plans to honour Giannone, president of the Fram Building Group, at its 2023 Tribute Dinner on March 23 at the Mississauga Convention Centre.

The Fram Building Group, founded by John Giannone, is an award-winning development firm headquartered in Mississauga. The firm is part of Port Credit West Village Partners, a group of development and design firms currently building Brightwater in Port Credit.

The Brightwater community, when completed at Mississauga and Lakeshore Rds., is expected to contribute significantly to the transformation of Mississauga’s waterfront.

Rising up on land that was previously long left dormant after its early use as an oil refinery, the development will feature 3,000 new homes, 300,000 sq. ft. of commercial, restaurant, retail and office space, and 18 acres of green space.

Community Living Mississauga says Giannone was involved with the programming of Mississauga’s Celebration Square from its inception and still sits on its Community Reference Group. He also currently sits on the Board of Heritage Mississauga.

The foundation says the dinner will feature a performance by Little Peter and the Elegants, music by violinist Grenville Pinto, as well as stories from some of Giannone’s family, friends and special guest speakers.

“It is our distinct pleasure to honour Frank Giannone. Over the years, we have honoured some truly special people that have made a difference in our communities and this year is no exception,” said Jack A. Prazeres, Chair of the 2023 Tribute Dinner Planning Committee, in a statement.

“Frank has built visionary condos and townhouses that have transformed neighbourhoods and created lasting communities, particularly in his home of Port Credit.”

Giannone is also the founding director of the Port Credit Community Foundation, a charitable organization that has funded events such as the Waterfront Festival, Paint the Town Red, the Southside Shuffle and more.

Giannone, who recently completed a nine-year stint on the board of the Tarion Warranty Corporation, is also a former President of the Toronto Home Builder’s Association and the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OBHA).

The annual Tribute Dinner raises funds to provide opportunities for children and teens who have an intellectual disability to attend summer camp programs.
