Major intersection was closed to rescue dog that fell through ice in Brampton

Firefighters in Brampton spent around four hours Tuesday trying to find a dog to went through some ice.
As Peel police related, there were road closures in the Creditview Rd. and Steeles Ave. W. area from shortly after 4:30 p.m. after the report of the dog being in peril. The closures lasted for over an hour.
Shortly before 9 p.m., police thanked the community for offering messages of support, but gave no indication that the dog had been found or rescued.
“We understand that (Brampton Fire and Emergency Services) crews did everything they could to try and locate the dog,” the police stated in a tweet. “Thank you to all for your well-wishes and prayers.”

Brampton was hardly immune from the cold snap that moved across Southern Ontario last week, twice recording overnight lows of more than -20C on Feb. 3 and 4. But frozen surfaces have been softened by three consecutive days of above-freezing temperatures, with a daytime high of 8C recorded on Wednesday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is also forecasting plus temperatures, with daytime highs ranging from 2C to 8C, over the rest of this week.
