There is no shortage of family activities taking place in Milton during the holiday season and one major event is making a return after a two-year absence.

Miracle on Main St. is set for Friday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. in front of Troy’s Diner at 295 Main St. E. with the goal of collecting toys and distributing to families in need for Christmas. Admission is free with the donation of an unwrapped toy.

Formerly called Toys for Tots, the program has the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation partnering with Halton Regional Police to organize the toy drive that once collected, will be distributed throughout Halton Region.

The toy drive started 14 years ago with the two organizations joining forces for the past five years. The pandemic led to a pause on the outdoor event for two years.

“It’s that time of year again when families begin to think about the upcoming holiday season,” reads a statement by organizers. “There are many families within Halton Region that are less fortunate and struggle to provide their children with an enjoyable Christmas, and some who are simply not able to buy their children a toy. This year we believe the struggle could be even greater for more families.”

During the Dec. 9 event, families will be able to enjoy amusement rides, a petting zoo and pony rides, entertainment, food and drinks.

In attendance will be wrestling legend (and Milton’s own) Tiger Jeet Singh and his son Tiger Ali Singh (of WWE fame), members of the Halton Regional Police, the Milton firefighters, Halton emergency service personnel and other local officials.

And while the Miracle on Main St. is the focal point of the event, financial donations for toy purchases will continue right up until Christmas.

More than $850,000 was raised during last year’s virtual event and organizers hope to top that number this year. All funds raised go towards the toy drive.
