Residents of Ancaster can expect to see a few more Hamilton police cruisers in their neighbourhood.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate numerous reports of residential entries in Ancaster over the last two months.

A police spokesperson said most of the residential entries can be characterized as “opportunistic”, where entry was gained through an unlocked door, an open garage, or by using a garage door opener that was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked outside the residence.

“Police want to take this opportunity to remind community members to stay vigilant and encourage the public to look out for one another,” said the spokesperson.

“We ask you report all suspicious activity and crimes to police so they can be investigated and tracked. Remember: if you see something, say something.”

“Criminals find it difficult to operate in neighbourhoods where citizens take an active role in preventing crime.”

Police are looking for witnesses and/or video surveillance footage to assist in identifying any suspects. If you live in the area and have video cameras installed at your residence, or if you have witnessed anyone in or around your property recently, please contact Det.-Sgt. Ben Licop at 905-546-3851
