All systems are go for Clarington to get a new reservoir and pumping station to supply drinking water for Bowmanville residents.

Durham Region has completed an ‘Addendum Report,’ which is the third phase of four for the required Environmental Assessment (EA) study and the recommendations are to proceed with the construction of a new Zone 2 Pumping Station located at 3403 Liberty Street North, about 700 metres north of Concession 3.

A copy of this report is available for review on the Region’s website (durham.ca/Liberty Street Reservoir) until November 7. The public may provide written comments to the project team by that date.

The Zone 2 Pumping Station will connect to the existing 300 millimetre watermain running along Liberty Street, supplying water to the Zone 2 water pressure district.

The project will now proceed to the final phase of the EA – implementation – with design this year and early next year and construction to begin in 2023.
