It’s a showdown in Garden town tonight as the unbeaten and division-leading Oshawa Generals take their 2-0-1 record to the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines to take on the once-beaten (2-1-1) and division leading Niagara Ice Dogs.

It might be a little early to be talking about ‘showdowns’ after just one week of the season but the KIA CHL Top 10 rankings are already out and there isn’t an OHL Eastern Conference team on it. It is most likely that the winner of tonight’s match – so long as they can keep that momentum the rest of the weekend – will find themselves in the national spotlight.

Niagara was unbeaten until they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Colts in Barrie Thursday night and has scored 15 goals already. Oshawa is two-and-oh with a shootout loss and has a dozen goals to its credit so there will be some firepower on display.

The Generals visit defending OHL champions Hamilton and the First Ontario Centre Saturday night while Niagara is home to Guelph.
