As Starbucks locations close, a new Canadian coffee shop chain has moved in with two locations opening soon in Mississauga.

Good Earth Cafes Ltd., headquartered in Calgary, is moving east with several new locations opening in Ontario. The cafe, founded in 1991, focuses on ethically-sourced coffee beans and creating community.

The two new locations in Mississauga will be inside the Credit Valley Hospital, 2200 Eglinton Ave. W., and Mississauga Hospital, 100 Queensway W. They are slated to open later this year or early 2023, according to a press release from Good Earth Cafes Ltd.

And there could be more to come. Good Earth recently announced a partnership with Indigo Books.

“We are so pleased to be growing and reconnecting communities with exceptional coffee and fresh food served in a social hub,” says Nan Eskenazi, founder of Good Earth Cafes Ltd. “We believe the human connection and interaction that takes place in our coffeehouses is valuable – as valuable as the coffee and food we serve.”

In addition to coffee and espresso drinks, Good Earth serves baked goods, breakfast, sandwiches and soup.

The announcement comes as Starbucks shuttered locations across Canada including one at Square One, Streetsville (242 Queen St. S.) and the Starbucks at Hurontario and Britannia (6020 Hurontario St.).

And Good Earth has opened locations in former Starbucks locations at Saskatoon and Edmonton.

In addition to Mississauga, there will be locations in Toronto, Kitchener, Oshawa, Barrie, and Cambridge.

The company currently has 50 locations across Canada.
