It might be a costly day in the big city for a Hamilton-area man, whom Toronto police have charged with assaulting a parking enforcement officer.
The Toronto Police Service say its officers responded to a call for an assault near 1558 Eglinton Ave. W. that was made just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. They allege that
- A parking enforcement officer conducting rush hour enforcement asked a driver to move along;
- The parking enforcement officer continued on to other offending vehicles issuing violations for the posted No Stopping Rush Hour Route;
- The parking enforcement officer returned to the first vehicle and proceeded to write a violation as the driver had not moved his vehicle;
- The driver exited his vehicle and hit the Parking Enforcement Officer’s hands, knocking the ticket issuance device to the ground
- The accused remained at the location until police officers arrived.
Shaiyaa Sprackman, 33, of Binbrook, Ont., was arrested and charged with assault of a peace officer.
He was released and has a court date in Toronto on Nov. 4.
Binbrook is a rapidly urbanizing community of about 15,000 in southeastern Hamilton.
