Lace up your sneakers and raise some money for a good cause at the Run For Brampton this weekend.

The charity run is organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association Brampton (AMYA), and will be raising funds to support local food banks, old-age homes, and women shelters across the city.

“Our goal is to help the local community and be there for the people who are in need,” the AMYA said in a release.

With a target of raising $50,000, the AMYA says Run For Brampton will have options for both serious and casual runners, as well as those who wish to take a more relaxed walk or jog.

Entry fees are $25.00, and there are three different runs that attendees can take part in; a one kilometre fun run for participants of all ages and skill levels; a three kilometre run for first-time or intermediate runners; and a six kilometre course for more advanced runners.

The City of Brampton officially renamed Alloa Green Park off Brisdale Dr. and Remembrance Rd. to Ahmadiyya Park last month in recognition of Brampton’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community and their charitable contributions to the city, like the Neighbourhood Helper campaign and hosting Canada Day celebrations at the Mubarak Mosque.

The Run For Brampton starts at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, at Chinguacousy Park.
